GENIVAR is winner of two Leonard Prizes

7th Edition of the Grands Prix du génie-conseil québécois: GENIVAR is winner of two Leonard Prizes, the first in the Project Management / Construction Management category and the second in the Visionary Prize category.

International Waterfront, Port of Spain, Trinidad-and-Tobago

The Project Management category award was won by GENIVAR for this project. Concentrated on the waterfront revitalization of the Port of Spain, the capital of Trinidad-and-Tobago, the project’s goal was to open the center town on the waterfront and to improve the urban quality of the environment.

To be precise, the project consisted of constructing two 26 story prestige office towers, and a four star 885,000 ft² Hyatt hotel with 428 rooms, a 55,000 ft² convention centre, commercial lots and an 800 space parking structure.

This award perfectly underlines the extent and the strength of our skills in large scale project management and our capacity to take up challenges in complex environments.

Energy optimization of an isolated site located at kilometre 426, “La Verendrye Reserve”

In the Visionary category, GENIVAR won an award for adapting and optimizing the traditional diesel generators providing electricity to an isolated site in the middle of the La Verendrye Reserve, in spite of the low wind and hydroelectric potential. Located at kilometre 426 of route 177, 4 buildings and annexes are used as a base camp for contractors who maintain the roads during winter, as well as for paramedics.

The innovative project included an energy management system that had never been established on a site this size.

The Visionary Prize rewards an engineering consulting firm for having shown boldness among all the listed projects. It should be noted that GENIVAR has won this prize for the second consecutive year.
