Samuel de Champlain Promenade: Long-term visibility and international recognition

The Samuel de Champlain Promenade redevelopment project in Quebec City was recognized in three different categories at the closing ceremony of the prestigious Design Exchange Awards in Toronto.

Completed between June 2006 and June 2008, the Promenade won “best of category” for commercial architecture (for the unique and poetic Quai des Cageux component) and urban design (for the overall project). An award of excellence was presented in the landscape architecture category for the thematic gardens at the Station des Quais.

In recognition of this triple honour, the Promenade will be featured in the next edition of Canadian Business magazine, which reaches an audience of over one million readers. It will also be showcased in an exhibition that will travel across Canada and various foreign countries.

In addition to these prestigious awards, the Promenade was selected from among 224 finalists unveiled by the jury of the World Architecture Festival (WAF), an international event held in Barcelona in October. It will also be in the running for the 2009 Quebec Tourism Grand Prix in the Sustainable Tourism category.
