The Infras-Quebec A25 Consortium, Including GENIVAR Selected for Highway 25!

On Saturday, June 9, the Quebec government announced that the Infras-Quebec A25 consortium, which includes GENIVAR among its members, has been chosen for a contract to complete Highway 25 in Northeastern Montreal.

The project will be carried out under a public-private partnership (PPP) by the consortium made up of, in addition to GENIVAR, the Macquarie Bank and several other partners. The contract is expected to be signed before September.

GENIVAR will be involved in the design, the plans and specifications, and site supervision. What’s more, the company has already played a part in this major project on an environmental basis.

The long-awaited extension of Highway 25 will complete a 7.2-km section between Henri-Bourassa Boulevard in Montreal and Highway 440 in Laval. The favoured concept calls for a four-lane highway, along with a 1.2-km cable stayed bridge across the Rivière des Prairies with three lanes in each direction as well as a multipurpose bicycle path.

This also offers a solution to the recurring traffic problems stemming from the substantial population growth seen in Laval, Terrebonne and Mascouche, in particular. From this perspective, completing the highway is a satisfactory sustainable-transport.
