GENIVAR, in consortium, obtains the Samuel de Champlain Boardwalk project in Quebec City

The Samuel de Champlain Boardwalk will be one of the major attractions of Quebec City’s 400th anniversary celebrations in 2008. Carried out by a consortium that includes GENIVAR, the project will transform Champlain Boulevard into an urban boardwalk. In all, some 15 kilometres will be affected by the work, which mainly involves the thoroughfare’s road geometry, a traffic circle, a bike path, a pedestrian path, parking areas and the development of a beach, a wooded area and a garden.

The Commission de la capitale nationale du Québec’s mandate covers decontamination, road, marine and hydraulic engineering, traffic and safety management, eco-engineering and civil, structural, mechanical and electrical engineering. Besides restoring access to the river to the capital city’s residents, the Samuel de Champlain Boardwalk will include recreational and tourist spaces remarkable for their flora and fauna.
